PC: headset is not recognized - you can do that
If the headset is not recognized, this can have different causes. However, you can often solve the problem yourself. We'll show you how you can still connect the headset.
PC does not recognize the headset - these tips help
Sometimes the simplest things can solve technical difficulties. If your headset is not recognized by the PC, you should try the following:
- Disconnect and plug in the headset again. Often this simple trick can fix the problem. Also be careful to connect the connectors to the correct slots.
- Restart your PC. A small software error may block the newly connected headphones from being recognized. This will be fixed by the restart.
- Find the drivers for the device on the website of your headset manufacturer. Download and install the latest driver so that the headset is recognized by the PC.
- Open the device manager. In the categories "Audio, Video and Game Controllers" and "Audio Inputs and Outputs" you will find the microphone and headphones of your headset. Right click on them and select "Update Driver".
- Scan cables and connections for loose contacts or cable breaks.
- If you have the opportunity, test the headset on another PC or laptop. If the device does not work there, it is most likely defective.
