Connect PC to TV - how it works
If the PC monitor is too small for you, you can also connect your computer to the television. We will show you exactly how to do this.
Optimal case: Connect TV to HDMI via PC
Every television now has several HDMI inputs, which you can also use to connect to the PC. This way you achieve the best quality, because the transmission runs digitally and in the best possible resolution:
- Plug the HDMI cable into the output of your graphics card and the input of your PC. Now your picture will only be shown on the TV if you select the correct input in the settings. Most laptops have an FN key combination with which you can output the image to an external monitor in various modes.
- Of course you can also have your picture displayed on your PC monitor at the same time. The prerequisite for this is that your graphics card supports multiple monitors. There must also be a slot for the second monitor. If, for example, you only have one HDMI and one DVI output, you can purchase suitable adapters at low cost.
- Not only can you clone your screen, but you can also set the mode to "Advanced", for example. Then your monitor is "extended" practically directly onto the larger television. You can find the setting by right-clicking on the desktop and then clicking on "Screen resolution".
Analog solution: connection via VGA
If your PC or TV is outdated and does not support a digital interface such as HDMI, DVI or Displayport, you have to use VGA. The plug is mostly blue and has 15 pins (see picture). Do the same here as for the connection with HDMI.
