Clean your PC with a vacuum cleaner: you should note that
You can clean your PC with the vacuum cleaner to protect it from overheating from heat build-up or dirty fans. It is enough to clean your computer with the annual spring cleaning. With our tips you protect your hardware from short circuits and do not vacuum up small parts.
How to suck your computer properly
If you stick to our 10-point plan when cleaning your computer with a vacuum cleaner, dirt has no chance and your PC has a long life expectancy:
- Turn off the computer before unscrewing or vacuuming from the outside. If you do not do this, the fan has to fight against the suction power of the vacuum cleaner and breaks under circumstances.
- You should also pull the mains plug. Otherwise, a metal part from the vacuum cleaner or a sweaty finger can cause a short circuit.
- Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. The bare tube hardly absorbs dust if it is not close to the computer surface. If it is tight, it could damage sensitive parts.
- PC towers have several openings through which air and dust can penetrate. Hold the vacuum cleaner by these holes to suck up some dust from the outside.
- Before the vacuum of the vacuum cleaner swallows important parts, it is best to check whether all parts are stuck before vacuuming. Otherwise jumpers in particular could be sucked up unnoticed.
- Also remember to keep the case screws out of reach of the vacuum cleaner.
- It is better to vacuum inside the case at a lower level, especially on the fans. Important: Fix the fan with a wire or similar so that it cannot rotate. Otherwise short circuits can occur in the circuit of the PC.
- In particular, vacuum the bottom and surface of PCI cards.

- Before you force your vacuum cleaner into tight spaces, it is better to use a compressed air display or a fine brush.
