PC switches itself on - it may be because of it
If you have shut down your PC properly and it switches itself on again, you should act quickly. Incorrect network settings may be responsible for this. In this practical tip, we will tell you what you can do about it.
Step 1: PC switches itself on - this is how you fix the error
So that the PC does not start by itself, we have tips below for you:
- This may be due to incorrect network settings or the "Wake On LAN" function.
- Therefore, open the "Control Panel" and open the "Device Manager" here.
- Right-click on "Ethernet" under "Network adapter" and select "Properties".
- Then switch to the "Energy management" tab.
- Make sure that the "Device can wake up computer from hibernation" and "Only Magic Packet can wake up computer from sleep" check box is not checked.
- You must also check this for the "WiFi" entry in the "Device Manager".
Step 2: Configure the system start in the BIOS
Then restart your PC and open the BIOS.
- Here you call the "Power Management Setup" and look for an entry "Wake On LAN" or similar.
- If you have found such an entry, press [Enter] and then select the "Disabled" setting so that this function is deactivated.
- Then restart the PC.
