PC games: record a demo - how it works
Do you have cool PC games and want to record demo videos of them? We'll show you how it works with free and paid recording tools.
Paid tools for demo recording of PC games
The most popular paid recording tools are listed below. Keep in mind that the available test versions often only offer limited functions (eg shorter recording times than in the full version).
- Fraps from the manufacturer Beepa is the only recording tool that records PC games without loss of quality. This makes the video files very large. Your hard drive should therefore have enough free space. The program is only available in English.
- Bandisoft's Bandicam is very clearly designed and also records reliably, but with loss of quality.
- Mirillis Action is probably the most comprehensive recording tool. It offers many settings under a clean interface. The program can also access your webcam (if available) and integrate it into the video recording. However, you also have to accept losses in quality here.
Record PC games for free
A recommended free video program is the Open Broadcaster Software (OBS).
- OBS is actually intended for streaming live videos to the Internet, but the videos can also be saved directly to your hard drive.
- Recording is a bit more complicated than with other recording tools. You start your game first and then return to the program (the game or the .exe file of the game must still be open). There you must then set that this .exe file should be included.
- Your webcam (if available) can be integrated into the video recording.
- With "Open Broadcaster Software" you also have to accept losses in recording quality.
This practical tip introduces the free Apowersoft Screen Recorder, which can also film the screen.
