Read PDF file only, do not save - how it works
You can only read PDFs from the Internet at first, but you do not have to save the file to your hard drive. This works with the integrated PDF viewers of the browsers - we show you how you can activate them in the browser of your choice.
Preview a PDF file in the browser - how it works
- Google Chrome: Enter the command "chrome: // plugins /" in your address bar (without quotes). If you click on more active in the list of plugins for "Chrome PDF Viewer", you can view PDF documents in the browser and then print or save them.
- Mozilla Firefox: To activate the viewer in Firefox, open the menu to the right of the address bar and select "Settings". In the "Applications" section, search for "PDF" - the entry "Portable Document Format" appears. Under Action you can now activate the "Preview in Firefox" entry.
- If you use Internet Explorer, you must install the Adobe Reader plugin. You can find the current Adobe Reader for free download in the CHIP download area. In Internet Explorer go to "Tools" - "Manage Addons". There you select the item "Toolbars and Extensions". In the list you have to select "Adobe PDF Reader" and then click on "Activate".
- If you have activated the viewer in the browser, it opens when you click on a PDF file. From here you can then save the file.
