Cooking jacket potatoes - so it'll work
Jacket potatoes are easy to cook and can be combined to your heart's content, for example with fish or curd cheese. We show you how to cook jacket potatoes properly in this home article.
Cooking jacket potatoes - how it works
All you need to prepare it is a large saucepan, the desired amount of hard-boiled potatoes, a little salt and water. Then you can start:
- First, roughly clean the potatoes and remove black spots.
- Fill the pot with water and place the potatoes in pieces of approximately the same size. Add a little salt.
- Let the water boil. Depending on their size, the jacket potatoes need around 20 to 30 minutes in boiling water.
- You can check whether the jacket potatoes are ready with the stick test. Simply take a small wooden stick or alternatively a fork and use it to prick the potato. If the stick slides into the potato without much resistance, it is ready and you can pour the potatoes off.
- Tip: If you lightly carve the potatoes with a knife beforehand and quench them with cold water after pouring them off, they are easier to peel.
If you haven't cooked all the potatoes, you can simply save the rest. We will show you how to store potatoes correctly in the next home tip.
