Scroll directly under the mouse pointer using the mouse wheel
Usually you scroll with the mouse wheel in the active window, even if the mouse pointer is somewhere else. The behavior known under Unix of scrolling in the window directly under the mouse pointer can also be achieved under Windows.
Set mouse wheel behavior with KatMouse
- First download the freeware "KatMouse".
- The short installation configures the necessary registry values and adopts the program in the autostart. In the future, the KatMouse will be automatically active and can be reached in the notification area of the taskbar.
- You can use the context command »Enable« there to temporarily switch off the function, for example if there is a problem with another program, and then reactivate it later.
- You can also access the settings there with the context command »Settings«. In the »General« tab you can set how many lines should be scrolled at once or whether the page should be scrolled page by page.
- You can define this more practically in the "Applications" tab. There click on "Add", navigate to the relevant program file such as "winword.exe" and select it with "Open".
- To edit, double click on this new line. Activate the "Custom scroll settings" option and do the special settings below.
- For example, you can page through PDF documents. If necessary, deactivate the function with "Don't handle window at all", for example for a graphics application.
