Insert arrows in Word - so it'll work
In Word you can insert arrows in different ways. In this practical tip, we will show you two different approaches.
How to insert arrows in Word
- Open Word and switch to the "Insert" tab.
- Then select "Shapes". Depending on the version of Word, you will now see a bar similar to the one in the screenshot.
- Click the arrow you want, and then align the icon to your Word document.
- You can then still edit the arrows, for example by changing the fill color. To do this, double-click the arrow and adjust the options in the status bar.
Insert arrows with a keyboard shortcut in Word
Alternatively, you can insert the arrows into Word using a keyboard shortcut. We show you how to do this:
- If you press the [ALT] key and then the [1] and [6] keys in succession, you will receive an arrow pointing to the right (►).
- If you press the [ALT] key and then the [1] and [7] keys in succession, you will see an arrow pointing to the left (◄).
