Core the plum quickly: the best tips and tricks
Plums do not have any kernels, but are equipped with stones, so the term "coring" is wrong. Instead, you can quickly and easily stone a plum with a few tools. You can read about the possibilities in this practical tip.
Quickly "core" plum: this is how it works with a knife
The easiest way to stone plums is when they are ripe but not yet overripe. You can tell this from the fact that the fruit only gives way slightly when pressed. If you rarely enjoy fresh plums, you can use a knife to stone them in a few steps.
- Wash the plum thoroughly and then dry it off with a clean cloth.
- Take the plum in one hand and a short, sharp peeling knife in the other.
- Now cut on one side from one tip of the plum to the other, i.e. a cut from top to bottom.
- Now push the two plum halves apart. With the movement, the stone should come loose and fall out. This works best if you try to turn both halves in opposite directions.
- Otherwise, you can easily remove the stone with your fingers.
Treat plum with the stoner: how it works
If you eat plums more often, it may be worth buying a stone. Make sure that this is really suitable for plums.
- Set up a bowl, the removed stones will fall in later.
- Place the plum tip first in the opening of the pliers.
- Now press both arms of the pliers together and watch the stoner pierce through the plum.
- In the end, the plum stone falls out on the other side.
