Phablet: what is it?
In this practical tip, we explain what exactly a phablet is and what the term means.
What is a phablet?
- The term "phablet" is a combination of smartphone and tablet. The term smartlet is not quite as common.
- Phablets are devices that cannot be clearly assigned to either category. They are too big for a smartphone, but too small for a real tablet.
- Devices like the iPhone 6 Plus or the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 hardly fit in your pocket, and can just be used as smartphones. They can be called a phablet.
- The transition between smartphone and tablet is fluid. There is therefore no precise definition of when a smartphone is a phablet.
