Philips Hue: overview of power consumption
If you want to buy a Philips Hue lamp, the power consumption is not an unimportant factor. We show you where the consumption really is.
Power consumption of the Philips Hue lamps
With a Philips Hue you can easily control your lamps via WiFi. In contrast to a normal lamp, the intelligent lamp also consumes electricity when it is switched off.
- When the mode is switched off, the lamp still consumes around 0.5 watts. With an average electricity price, this costs you around 1.30 euros per year.
- If you switch on the lamp, the consumption levels off at 7 to 8 watts. The maximum power is 9 watts. If you leave the lamp on all the time, you will pay around 21 euros a year in electricity costs.
- If you dim the lamp, the power consumption is only minimally reduced. The dimmer itself consumes electricity at work, so there is hardly any savings.
- Conclusion: The energy consumption of the Philips Hue roughly corresponds to the consumption of an energy saving lamp. If you are absent for a long time, you can turn the lamps out of the socket to save some electricity.
