Control Philips Hue on the go - how it works
Philips Hue is an intelligent lighting system that can be used in many different ways. This practical tip explains how you can control it on the go.
Controlling Philips Hue on the go - the preparations
Before you can control Philips Hue using the app, the whole system must of course be set up first.
- The Hue Bridge is a mandatory requirement for using Philips Hue.
- You also need at least one Hue bulb. When purchasing, you should immediately make sure that the light bulb has the same socket as the lamp in which it is to be operated.
- Then simply screw the bulb into any lamp and switch it on.
- Now it's time to connect the Hue Bridge to your WiFi router. Use the included Ethernet cable for this. Alternatively, you can also connect other devices to the bridge via an Ethernet port, provided that they are also connected to your WLAN router.
- Install the free Philips Hue app on your smartphone. You need this to control the lamps and to create groups, for example for individual rooms.
- If you haven't already done so, open a My Hue account within the app at this point in the facility. You need this to be able to control your Hue lamps from outside the house later.
- After logging in or creating a new My Hue account, tap the plus symbol within the app to search for and add light bulbs. If you have decided to buy the starter set, the corresponding bulbs should be displayed from the start.
- If all the bulbs are connected, you can name rooms and lamps for orientation.
- Simply go to "Settings" and then to "Room Settings". You can use the plus symbol to create additional rooms to which you can assign the corresponding lamps.
Control Philips Hue on the go - The controls
After you have successfully set up the Hue system, you can now start using the app.
- You can select every single lamp within the app, even when you're on the go.
- All you have to do is open the app. You can easily switch your lamps on and off using a mobile data connection.
- The setting of color scenes, the color change of lamps or the brightness control is also possible without further ado.
- With your My-Hue account, the Hue-Bridge can also be controlled without being in the same WiFi network. The connection is now established using your access data.
- Using this feature, for example, allows you to turn on the lights before you get home. Or it acts as a deterrent to burglars while you are on vacation.
