Philips Hue: what is the range?
With Philips Hue you can create your own lighting system at home. Find out how far the range of Philips Hue is in this practical tip.
Philips Hue: what is the range?
- Philips uses the ZigBee radio standard for its intelligent lighting system, with which you can control 50 light sources. ZigBee transmits in the 2.4 GHz range. For Hue, Philips uses the ZigBee Pro variant, whose range is slightly larger than that of a WLAN network.
- With Philips Hue a mesh network is being built, the range of which is increased by the fact that some end devices work as a full function device. Individual lamps pass on the switching commands of the bridge to other lamps.
- As with a WLAN network, you can also increase the range of the mesh network by integrating repeaters into the network.
- The range of Philips Hue is between 30 and 100 meters, whereby the environmental conditions naturally play a decisive role.
- You control the intelligent lighting either with the Philips Hue gen 2 app for Android or the Philips Hue gen 2 for the iPhone.
You can also control the Philips Hue lighting system with Amazon's Alexa. We'll tell you how on the next page.
