Photoshop: Create 3D text - how it works
In the Photoshop image editing diagram, you can create 3D text in just a few steps. Read below how this works.
3D text with Photoshop - it always works
For our tutorial we use Photoshop CS2.
- Create a new file in Photoshop. The picture should not be too small - a 3D text can still be a little larger to make an impression. The background color is not relevant here.
- Next, write your text on the first level. A bold, large and straightforward font is the best choice. You can choose the font color according to your taste.
- Now copy this layer and color the font in the color that the 3D effect should have later. In our example we chose black.
- If you have colored the layer copy, select the move tool from the toolbar. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move the layer up and once to the right.
- Now make a copy of this level again. You can also use the arrow keys to move the newly copied layer up and once to the right.
- Repeat step 5 until the desired depth of the 3D effect is achieved. In our example, we created and moved ten layer copies.
- In the last step, you move the first layer - the one with the colored font - to the top of the layer view. It's quick and easy to create 3D text even with older versions of Photoshop.
In the next practical tip, we'll show you how easy it is to remove wrinkles and pimples with Photoshop.
