Photoshop: Create an 8-bit effect - how it works
You can spice up your pictures in Photoshop with the 8-bit effect. We'll show you how.
8-bit effect like in old games - that's how it works in Photoshop
With Photoshop, you can filter every image into a retro look. You can find illustrated instructions in our gallery.
- Open the picture you want.
- Under the menu item "Filter" you will find the effect "Mosaic" under "Coarse Filter".
- Set the desired size of the pixels.
- Your picture now looks slightly blurry. Duplicate the edited layer.
- Go to "Filters" again and select the "Find contours" effect under Stylization Filters.
- Your layer is now white and has colored edges. Change the layer mode to "Multiply" or "Dark" to "Copy".
- Your picture will then shine in a chic 8-bit retro look.
You can also spice up your image in Photoshop using the bleach-passed effect.
