Photoshop: Cut in a fixed size
Photoshop lets you cut out images in a fixed size. We show you in this practical tip how exactly this works.
Photoshop: Cut out the fixed size with guidelines
Since you can unfortunately not set a fixed size for the exemption tool, but only a ratio, other solutions are required. You can stake out the fixed size with help lines and then cut it out.
- First use the selection rectangle tool (key M).
- There you change the type of tool to "Fixed size" in the program bar. You can then enter the desired fixed size.
- With a click on the drawing area you can see the frame in the fixed size.
- Then use View> New Guide to create four new guides that you can use the Move tool (V key) to create the selection made above.
- Now you can cut out the staked out area as usual with the crop tool (key C).
Exhibit in a fixed size: limit the working area
Alternatively, you can set a fixed size by changing the work surface. It is best to do this at the very beginning.
- Select Image> Workspace from the program bar.
- Then a new dialog opens in which you can set the fixed size. You can switch between pixels, centimeters and more.
- Click OK to confirm your entry. Your workspace of the document is now in your desired fixed size.
