In Photoshop, you can crop motifs or images relatively easily, in order to then emphasize them. Another background can also be used, for example, with the help of cropped images.
Ellipse, lasso, wand and other clipping tools
You can get an exemption via the selection tool and the mask option. Photoshop mainly includes selection tools:
- First of all you will find the rectangle and the ellipse at the top as selection forms. For the rectangle and the ellipse, you can set a fixed size or aspect ratio, for example, using the settings bar.
- With the Lasso tool you can make personal selections with lines. There are the normal lasso (freehand), the polygon lasso (straight lines) and the magnetic lasso. The magnetic lasso is particularly suitable for you, as it automatically changes the selection.
- The magic wand selects areas for you that have similar color properties. Use the tolerance to determine the color tolerance.
- The quick selection tool enables you to roughly select areas by marking adjacent areas of color. You can use it like a brush.
- Note that you can use the four buttons next to the selection menu to decide whether you want to select, add, subtract or mark a new area.
Cut out selected areas in Photoshop
When you have selected all areas to be cut out, you can use the masking.
- Activate the mask by selecting the layer or group to be edited and clicking on the mask icon (white rectangle with black dot in the middle).
- The masking hides all areas that are black on the mask. You will find your mask right next to the preview image of your level.
- The advantage of the mask is that you can expand or contract it with a brush. They use white or black.
You can also mirror layers in Photoshop.
