Photoshop Elements: Correct scratches / tears in photos
When digitizing images, you often see the cracks and scratches that appear on a photo over time. However, Photoshop Elements can remove them - we will show you how to do this.
1. PhotoShop Elements: Remove scratches from photos at the push of a button
With image processing programs such as Photoshop Elements, scratches can be removed at the push of a button thanks to filters:
- First, open the image in Photoshop Elements.
- Under Filters> Noise Filters you will find the "Dust and scratches" filter. Choose this.
- First set the radius to 0 and carefully feel for larger radii. Because the larger the radius, the more small picture details also disappear.
2. Correct cracks in photos
When you digitize your old photos, you usually have unsightly cracks in your picture. Photoshop Elements makes it relatively easy to correct them:
- First open the cracked image in your Photoshop Elements. Set the mode to "Expert" above so that you have all the tools at your disposal.
- Use the copy stamp (key [S]) for correction. Hold down the [Alt] key and click on a point next to the crack and then stamp the crack away. This is especially easy with monotonous backgrounds.
- Alternatively, you can use the area repair brush (key [J]) to correct the crack using the surrounding pixels.
