In this practical tip, we will explain how easy it is to create a color gradient with the photo editing software Photoshop.
Color gradient with Photoshop - how it works
- In Photoshop, open the photo or image for which you want to create a gradient.
- Select the desired foreground and background color for the gradient.
- Click on the gradient tool in the toolbar and drag the gradient over the image. You can create the gradient vertically, horizontally or at an angle.
Gradient tricks in Photoshop
- If you do not want to draw a gradient over the entire image, select the desired area beforehand with the selection tool. The gradient is then only created for the selected area.
- A gradient does not always have to be linear. You can use the small buttons below the menu bar to change the shape and, for example, create a radial or reflective gradient.
- If you don't want a fully opaque gradient, you can also let the effect fade from the foreground color to transparent. To do this, click on the drop-down menu with the colors below the menu bar. Here you will find further options in addition to the setting that expires for transparency.
