Photoshop: create a photo collage - how it works
With the layers in Photoshop, you can create great photo collages in just a few steps. We show you how to do it.
Create a photo collage in Photoshop
In "Photoshop" you can first load photos into one layer and then move them freely to create a collage.
- Start Photoshop and create a new file via "File" -> "New". When specifying the width and height, you can use your later photo collage print as a guide. Then click "OK".
- Now select a photo in Explorer and drag it into the Photoshop interface. Photoshop wants you to place the image there first. To do this, click on the tick on the far right in the top menu bar. Now you can repeat the step and add more photos to the collage.
- When you have created all the photos in the collage, you still need to place them. Each time you drag the photos in, you have created a new Photoshop layer. On the right side you can mark them individually.
- Select a level and click "Scale" under "Transform" in the "Edit" menu. Now you can change the image size with the mouse and move the photo on the work surface. Confirm each change with the tick in the top bar.
- After you have placed all the photos, you can embellish the collage with effects: For example, add a "drop shadow" to individual photos by right-clicking on the layer under "Fill options". This gives the photos a 3D effect on the collage. You can also rotate layers or enhance your collage with black and white and color effects.
- Finally, you have to save your photo collage. To do this, click on the "File" menu and "Save for Web ...". Select "JPEG high" above to get the best photo quality. You can then save the photo collage by clicking on "Save ...".
