Photoshop: This is how masking mode works
Masking mode in Photoshop lets you create and edit a selection. You can find out exactly how the mode works in this practical tip.
This is how masking mode works in Photoshop
- To be able to make a selection using the masking mode, first mark the desired area with the magic wand.
- Then click on "Select" in the image editor and then twice on "Masking mode".
- The area just marked is now covered with a transparent red film.
- You can then close the "Select" dialog. Now take the brush and use the color black. This will coat the part of the image that you want to add to the selection.
- To define the edge of the selection, use the "Gaussian blur" filter.
- Finally, click on "Select"> "Exit masking mode". You can then continue editing the entire image.
