Photoshop: draw hair - how it works
In this guide, we show you how to draw hair in Photoshop.
Draw hair with Photoshop
- Download a special hair brush for Photoshop. You can find this on the website stval.fr. Copy the downloaded ABR file into the directory Programs / Adobe / Adobe Photoshop / Presets / Brushes.
- Open the corresponding image or a new project in Photoshop in which you want to draw hair.
- Use the button at the bottom right of the screen to create three new levels.
- In the first level, select the downloaded "Hair01" brush and set the color to black. Choose 15 pixels thick and 100 percent opacity. Depending on the size of your project, you can adjust these values accordingly.
- Select either "Hair02" or "Hair03" in the second level to draw strands in the hair. Use the color 646464, the diameter 10 pixels and the opacity 100 percent.
- Click the Dodge tool and drag a 100 pixel diameter and 10 percent exposure vertically down over the hair. You should select medium tones as the color range.
- On the third level you can still make fine adjustments. Use a soft round brush with a diameter of one pixel and an opacity of 10 percent.
- Then you can combine the three levels with the key combination Ctrl + E into one level.
- Under "Image", click "Adjustments" and select "Gradient conversion". Adjust the color according to your ideas.
- You can then save your project and export it as an image file.
