Photoshop tutorial: How to blur backgrounds
You can blur the background of an image in just a few steps:
- First duplicate the image layer. To do this, either press the [CTRL] and [J] keys simultaneously or right-click on the image in the layer window and then select "Duplicate layer".
- Now click on the duplicate. This should be above the original level.
- Open the "Filters" menu. Go to "Blur Filters" and select "Gaussian Blur".
- Now set the pixel value so that the image is blurred according to your needs. A good orientation value is 20 pixels. Take a look at the change in the preview and confirm it by pressing OK.
- The filter is only applied to the selected level. Therefore, simply remove the parts of the layer that you want to see clearly. You can use the eraser tool, for example.
- Depending on the complexity of the picture, the use of tools such as the magic wand is also worthwhile. In another article, we will show you how to crop motifs with Photoshop.
