Photoshop: smooth edges - how it works
For how to smooth edges in Photoshop, read our Photoshop guide. There we present several options.
Smooth edges in Photoshop
There are several ways to smooth edges in Photoshop:
- Make a selection whose edges you want to smooth out - for example, a person you want to cut out and crop. To do this, use the quick selection tool and then right-click on the selected area. The "Soft edge" option automatically creates a softer edge with a radius that you specify.
- The edges can be smoothed manually for even better results. To do this, select "Improve edge" instead of "Soft edge". You can use the sliders for "Radius", "Round", "Soft edge", "Contrast" and "Move edge" to adjust the smoothing to suit your needs. Small adjustments are usually sufficient for good results.
- Alternatively, you can use the "blur tool" and the "blur filter" to smooth edges by slightly blurring them.
