The copy stamp of the Adobe Photoshop software is a powerful and useful tool. It can not only be used to retouch photos, but also to create deceptively real photo montages. This practical tip explains how you use the tool.
Define the specifications of the copy stamp
Before you can use the copy stamp, it must first be adapted to your needs and your project:
- Select the copy stamp from the toolbar in the left pane.
- In the upper area of Photoshop, you can set the tool's specifications. In addition to the opacity and the level from which objects are to be copied, the stamp size can be specified.
- Set the size of the stamp so that the stamp fits the entire size of the object to be copied. You can check this by moving the mouse pointer over the object.
Copy and paste objects
Once you have set up the stamp correctly, the actual copying process can follow:
- Move the mouse pointer over the object to be copied.
- Hold down the "Alt" key on your keyboard and click the object with the left mouse button. The object is now copied. Release the "Alt" key.
- To insert the object at a different location, left-click on the desired position in which the new object should appear.
- You can now insert the object as often as you want without having to copy it every time.
