Photoshop: Create a new layer - how it works
We'll explain how to create a new layer in Photoshop. This facilitates precise image processing on the computer.
Create a new layer in Photoshop
- Open the document in which you want to create a new layer.
- Click on "Layer" at the top of the menu bar.
- Go to "New" here and select the method with which you want to create the new layer in the submenu.
- As a rule, simply select "level" again here.
- Alternatively, you can press the [CTRL] + [SHIFT] and [N] keys simultaneously.
- In the new window, give the new level a name and confirm with OK.
- The new level is sorted in the level management above the currently selected level.
- This means that content and changes on the new level cover everything that is below it.
- To adjust the level sorting, simply click on the new level and move it in the administration.
