Photoshop: sharpen pixelized pictures - how it works
You can sharpen pixelated images with the Photoshop image editing program. We show you how it works.
Sharpen pixelated images with Photoshop
Photoshop provides you with the noise filter and the selective blur, with which you can sharpen pixelated images.
- Open the image to be edited in Photoshop and duplicate the layer with the key combination [Ctrl] + [J].
- Navigate to Filters -> Noise Filters -> Reduce Noise.
- A window opens in which you can make some settings. How you make the settings depends on the image to be edited. For example, you can select 10 for "Strength", 75% for "Maintain Details", 50% for "Reduce Color Noise" and 100% for "Sharpen Details". Then click OK".
- Then click Filter -> Blur Filter -> Selective Blur. Here, too, you define values for the "radius" (eg 4.0) and for the "threshold value" (eg 20). Set the quality to "high" and click "OK".
Photoshop: Sharpen pictures with the high pass
The high pass filter enhances your pixelated image and thus represents another function for processing recordings.
- Next, duplicate the layer again with the key combination [Ctrl] + [J].
- Press Filter -> Other Filters -> High Pass. Set the radius so that the contours are still visible in the image. For example, you can set a value of 4.0. At the end choose "OK".
- Now click on "Normal" within the layer window and select "Copy into one another". You get a much sharper picture than before. Of course, you should play a little with the values until you have the best effect.
