Photoshop: create vigniette - how it works
This guide explains how to create a vignette with Photoshop.
How to create a vignette in Photoshop
- Open the picture you want to make a vignette.
- Click the Selection Ellipse tool. If another selection tool is active, you must hold down the [ALT] key and click on the icon to switch to the ellipse.
- For "Soft selection edge", set a value between 50 and 200 pixels depending on the size of the image.
- Also enable anti-aliasing.
- Now draw a selection around the area that should remain in the center of the view.
- Then open the "Selection" menu and go to "Invert selection".
- Then click on the "Layer" menu. Here you go to the submenu "New adjustment level" and select "Brightness / Contrast".
- Now adjust the controls for brightness and contrast as desired to emphasize the center of your image. To do this, reduce the brightness and increase the contrast.
