Photoshop: remove watermarks - the best tips
Photoshop can do almost anything with photo editing, including removing watermarks. We'll give you a quick guide to find out which methods work best.
Remove Photoshop Watermark: The Area Repair Brush
Photoshop has several options for removing a watermark from an image. Which tool you use best depends on the environment of the image. If the structure around the watermark is relatively similar and constant (as in the picture with the word "CHIP"), you can try the following variant:
- Open the image with the watermark in Photoshop and select the area repair brush (button J) as the tool.
- Adjust the size of the brush so that the brush just covers the height of the watermark.
- Then hold the mouse button down over the areas of the watermark that have a similar environment.
- When you then release the mouse button, Photoshop calculates the change briefly and then shows you the result.
Remove the watermark with the touch-up tool
As a second option, you can use the touch-up tool to remove a watermark from the image:
- To do this, select the repair tool.
- Then use the tool to drive around the entire area of the watermark. You have then marked the watermark.
- Now click on the circle you made around the watermark and hold the left mouse button down. Then move the marker slightly to the side until the watermark disappears from the marker and release the mouse button.
- Photoshop now uses the pixels from the area where you dragged the marker, replacing the watermark.
Many areas of a watermark can also be edited with the copy stamp. You can find out how the copy recommendation works in the next practical tip.
