Use Picasa on Ubuntu - how it works
Picasa is an image manager from Google. This practical tip shows you how you can also use Picasa on Ubuntu.
Ubuntu: Install and start Picasa
To use Picasa on Ubuntu, you must first install "Wine" and then start Picasa with it. To do this, proceed as follows:
- On Ubuntu start with [CTRL] + [ALT] + [T] a new terminal first.
- Then install "Wine" with the command "sudo apt-get install wine".
- After installing "Wine" you will need to download Picasa.
- If you have saved Picasa in the download folder by default, you can now install it with the command "wine ~ / Downloads / picasa39-setup.exe". Otherwise you have to adjust the file path.
- Now click on "Accept" and select a target directory for the installation.
- Clicking "Install" will install Picasa on your system.
- To start Picasa, simply double-click the desktop icon you created.
