Pictograms - what is it?
You will encounter pictograms every day and everywhere - we will tell you exactly what that is and where you can really find the small pictures.
Pictograms in everyday life - that is behind it
The word pictograms is made up of the Greek words "pictum" (German for painting) and "gráphein" (German for writing). It is a generally understandable picture that conveys information in a simplified form. You come into contact with pictograms every day:
- When chatting: Smilies are nothing more than pictograms that illustrate emotions.
- In road traffic: Signs and signs are mostly designed so that foreigners can understand and interpret them straight away.
- Otherwise you will also encounter pictograms as an "emergency exit sign", as a "push sign" on doors or as a hazard warning in all possible situations.
In the next practical tip, we will show you the most popular smilies and their meaning.
