Warming up mushrooms: what you should pay attention to
For a long time it was said that mushrooms should not be warmed up. However, this budget rule no longer appears to be valid. But we have summarized for you what you should consider when you warm up mushrooms.
Mushrooms can be warmed up
After preparation, put the leftovers in the refrigerator and then warm them up again - that is allowed. But only under certain conditions.
- Only mushrooms that have been heated to an appropriately high temperature during the preparation may be reheated afterwards.
- The prepared mushrooms must have been stored in the refrigerator. This means that the mushrooms had to be stored at a refrigerator temperature of four to eleven degrees Celsius. This means: Do not keep at room temperature.
- Fungi are very susceptible to bacteria because they contain a lot of protein and water. When the substances are broken down, dangerous substances can be created that are toxic to the human organism.
Do not leave at room temperature
Never leave mushroom dishes on the table after they cool down.
- After cooling, put the mushrooms in the fridge immediately.
- Even if you leave mushroom dishes on the hot stove for a longer period of time, this can start the breakdown processes.
- When you reheat mushrooms, the temperature should be at least 70 degrees Celsius. This can kill bacteria and germs that may have arisen.
In our next practical tip, we have summarized whether you can also eat mushrooms raw.
