Mushrooms are not completely excluded during pregnancy
Fungi can become dangerous during pregnancy. But it depends on which mushrooms you eat.
- Cultivated mushrooms that have been well cleaned or washed are usually not a problem.
- It becomes dangerous with wild mushrooms. These include chanterelles, for example, which you can buy in the supermarket.
- Wild mushrooms can be radioactive. Heavy metals also accumulate in mushrooms.
- Wild mushrooms are also often enriched with eggs of the fox tapeworm.
- These eggs contain hemolysins that can attack your body's red blood cells.
Better not eat mushrooms
During pregnancy, you should pay close attention to what you eat so as not to harm your baby.
- Avoid mushrooms, if possible, to harm yourself and the unborn child as little as possible.
- Do not eat wild mushrooms under any circumstances, as they can contain many harmful substances.
- If you still want to eat mushrooms, then always use cultivated mushrooms such as mushrooms.
- Always wash off mushrooms with water before eating.
- Also, do not eat cultivated mushrooms raw. Heat them sufficiently during preparation.
