If you would like to check your work again before submitting it or find plagiarism yourself, there are several ways to check online whether it has been copied or incorrectly cited. We'll show you how it's done.
With these tools you can find the plagiarism
Most plagiarisms can already be found using search engines such as Google. For scientific texts, however, it is helpful to expand the search to Google Scholar and Google Books. Here the chance of further hits is many times higher. There are also many other tools on the net that you can use to find plagiarism:
- You can find the "Plagiarism Checker" from Grammarly on various websites (eg duplichecker), which you can use without registration. At Grammarly itself, you can only use it if you sign up. This allows you to check texts with a maximum of 1, 000 words - however, only two results are displayed. If your text can be found on more than two websites, you will not find out with this tool.
- Plagium is more suitable for short texts (up to 1, 000 characters). Use the "Quick Search" function to quickly find websites where the checked text was published. You then get a list, but you have to compare the texts yourself. If you also want to see a comparison, you have to register. With an account, you also have the option of uploading work and using the (but not free) extensive "Deep Search" function. Disadvantage: websites that are not known to Google (not indexed) are not found by Plagium.
- The plagiarism check at Plagaware is very good and extensive. Here you can copy a text, upload a document or specify a website. The plagiarism and the associated sources are marked in the same colors so that you can quickly see the sources of all plagiarism. You can register for free and test ten pages, additional pages are chargeable.
- Tools that are subject to a fee are also extensive, such as the online plagiarism check from Plagscan or the plagiarism check from Scribbr. You also have to register here and can only have short texts checked for free. For longer texts there are costs that depend on the length of the work.
