Play Store: Downloads slow - this may be the reason
Slow downloads from the Google Play Store can quickly cause frustration. We therefore explain in this practical tip what you can do to speed up the downloads again.
Slow Play Store Downlods: Fix Internet Connection Problems
In most cases, a slow internet connection is to blame for the long download times. Therefore, there are a few things you should consider before downloading apps from the Play Store:
- Larger downloads in particular should always be downloaded via a fast WiFi connection. So don't use your smartphone's slower mobile data network. If your cell phone cannot find a WiFi network, we will help you in this practical tip.
- Next, you should check the speed of your internet connection. This is possible, for example, with the free CHIP network test. If the result is bad, this article will help you.
- Finally, you can also try to start the download again later, as the servers in the Play Store may be overloaded.
Slow app downloads: clear cache and data from the Play Store
If everything is OK with your internet connection and downloads from the Play Store are slow over a longer period of time, you can also delete the cache and the data of the app:
- Open the "Settings" on your smartphone or tablet.
- Switch to the area in which all existing apps are listed. This can be called different depending on the device used, for example "Apps", "Application Manager" or "Applications".
- Search for the entry "Google Play Store" and tap on it.
- Select the "Clear cache" and "Clear data" options here.
- Then start the download again.
In the next practical tip, we will show you what you can do if you cannot connect to the Google Play Store at all.
