PlayStation 4: talk to friends using a headset
Playing alone is half as much fun as playing together. We'll tell you how to talk to your friends on your PlayStation 4 using the headset.
Put the headset in the PS4 headphone jack and off you go
Every PlayStation 4 is supplied with a mono headset. You can plug this into the bottom of your DualShock 4 controller and use it directly.
- To talk to your friends on PlayStation 4, you first need to set up a party. Within this you can then invite registered friends and talk to them. The special thing about it: a party works across the board and you can play different games while you are talking.
- To do this, move to the top menu bar in the main menu of your PlayStation 4. Here you will find the menu item Party to the right of the entry Messages.
- Depending on whether you have already been invited to a party by other registered friends, they will now be displayed. Otherwise you have to create a new party yourself. To do this, select "Create party".
- In the next window you can give your party a name and determine which players can join the party. If you select friends from friends, your invited friends are allowed to invite people who are not on your own friends list.
- As soon as your party is created, you can add friends using the bar on the left and make settings for the volume. This includes, for example, whether the sound from the party or the game should be prioritized.
Please note that there is an off switch for the microphone on the included mono headset. So do not be surprised if your headset seems to have given up the ghost, but first check whether the switch is set correctly. In another practical tip, we will explain how to start a livestream on your PlayStation 4.
