Plex: How to use addons with Chromecast
Thanks to Chromecast and Plex you have all your films on your TV. But there are also additional addons for Plex. You can read about how to use this in this practical tip.
Use Plex addons with Chromecast - Here's how
- The basis for all addons is the free Plex Media Server. We have already explained how to set this up in another practical tip for you.
- You can get free add-ons, for example, from GitHub.com or from the Plex Media Server itself.
- Download the corresponding file of your plugin and extract the archive if necessary.
- The file must end in ".bundle". If there is still "-master" behind this sentence, delete this by right-clicking on the file and then selecting "Rename".
- Now move the ".bundle" file into the plugins folder. From Windows Vista you will find this under "% LOCALAPPDATA% \ Plex Media Server \ Plug-Ins \". Mac users can find the folder under "~ / Library / Application Support / Plex Media Server / Plug-Ins".
- After inserting the plugins, restart the Plex Media Server. You can then enjoy plugins like RTLnow or YouTube via Chromecast!
