The term plex is often used in connection with Kodi, XBMC and streaming. We explain what Plex is all about, how the service works and how you can use Plex as a streaming platform.
Plex: Streaming service for music, films and photos
Plex is an application that allows you to access your own films and series, as well as music and photos, anywhere in the house and, if necessary, from outside. In the meantime, Plex also offers a free online media library with a few films, a few series and documentaries.
- To do this, install the free Plex Media Server on your computer and select all the content you want, such as films and music.
- Install Plex on other computers, smartphones, Smart TVs, Chromecasts, Fire TVs and consoles like Xbox and PlayStation. From here you have access to all previously selected data.
- With Plex, you not only make your own media available in other locations, but you can also share your photos, pictures and films with friends.
- You can now also stream films, series and documentaries for free at Plex. The free, mostly English-language program is still very thin and is interrupted by advertising blocks every ten minutes.
- In addition, numerous extensions can be installed in Plex. This allows you to access other online media libraries as well as services such as the music-video website Vevo.com.
