Compress PNG files
When it comes to small size of graphic files for websites, for example, PNG files can also be compressed even further. Read here exactly how.
Compress graphic files with TinyPNG
- To do this, open the website "tinypng.org".
- Drag and drop the file in question from Windows Explorer into the upper area "Drop your .webp files here!" Or click there, then select the desired file via the file dialog and click "Open".
- It is then uploaded to the web service and optimized there. After a short time, you will receive a download link directly below and a note of the size saved. When downloading, be careful not to overwrite the original file of the same name.
- Compare the image quality in an enlarged view with the original, since the compression of TinyPNG is generally not lossless. Most of the time, however, you won't notice a difference.
In another practical tip, we will tell you what the differences between JPG and PNG are.
