Pokemon Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby: Mega Developments - The Best Tips
As in Pokémon X & Y, there are so-called mega developments in Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby, in which selected Pokémon achieve a temporary and stronger form. In this practical tip, we explain what the mega development is and what you need to consider in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby.
Mega development in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby
Since Pokémon X & Y, Mega Development has been a special form of development that selected Pokémon can perform during a fight. The mega-development not only changes the appearance of the Pokémon, but also increases its status values, assigns new attacks to it and may even cause a new type combination. In contrast to a conventional development, the mega development only lasts for the duration of the battle in which it was triggered, so that the developed Pokémon returns to its original state after the end of the fight.
- For the mega development of a Pokémon, you need a key stone that is embedded in portable Pokémon accessories such as a mega ring and the mega stone of the respective Pokémon. In the latter case, you have to make sure that the mega-stone is compatible with the Pokémon to be developed. For example, a bisaflornite only causes the mega-development of a bisaflor, while a charizard can develop a charizard into a mega-charizard.
- As in Pokémon X & Y, a few Pokémon in Pokémon Alpha Spahir & Omega Rubin can go through two different mega-developments. The keystones of such Pokémon react with X and Y mega stones. A Mewtu can develop with the help of a Mewtunit X and a Mewtunit Y into a Mega-Mewtu X and a Mega-Mewtu Y.
- There were 28 mega stones in Pokémon X & Y that you could collect during the course of the game. Pokémon Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby have added more mega-developments. The location of the respective mega-stones can differ depending on the edition.
Pokémon Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby: New Mega Developments
In Pokémon Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby, in addition to already known mega developments such as Mega Garados, Mega Gengar or Mega Turtok, new mega developments with other Pokémon are possible. The following Pokémon can take on a mega development in the new Pokémon generation:
- Bibor, Tauboss, Lahmus, Stahlos, Gewaldro, Lohgock, Sumpex, Zobiris, Tohaido, Camerupt, Altaria, Firnontor, Brutalanda, Metagross, Latias, Latios, Rayquaza, Schlapor, Galagladi, Ohrdoch and Diancie.
- Protomorphosis is considered a special form of mega development. This is caused either by the red or the blue gemstone and can only be completed from Groudon to Proto-Groudon and from Kyogre to Proto-Kyogre.
Locations of the most important mega stones
In Pokémon Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby, Troy Trumm, after saving Latios and Latias, gives you a mega bangle with the Pokémon. In this mega bangle there is a key stone, which in combination with a mega stone causes the desired development. The mega-stones for other Pokémon can then be found in different places:
- Gewaldro is the highest level of development of the starter Pokémon Geckarbor. If you have selected the Geckarbor as starter Pokémons, you will receive the Mega Stone Gewaldronite from Troy on Route 120. If you have chosen a different Starter Pokémon, you will be dealt with by the stone trader on Route 114 after encountering a Proto Pokémon Gewaldronite from.
- The same applies to the other two starter Pokémon Flemmli and Hydropi. For your starter Pokémon, you will receive the respective Mega Stone from Troy on Route 120.Otherwise, you can buy the Lohgocknit and Sumpexnit from the stone dealer on Route 114.
- The Pokémon Mega-Mewtu X and Mega-Mewtu Y are considered the strongest Mega-Pokémon alongside Mega-Rayquaza. The Mewtunit X is located at the southeasternmost point in Wurzelheim after completing the main story, while the Mewtunit Y is handed over to you after the Pokémon League.
- The unique gemstones that enable Groudon and Kyogre to be protomorphized can be obtained and used, depending on the edition, after catching the respective Pokémon or on the Pyroberg.
Since some mega-stones only appear later in the game, you have to train your Pokémon regularly to be able to defeat your opponents. We have summarized the best training tips for Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby in another practical tip.
