Pokemon Go: getting candy - tips and tricks
In "Pokémon Go" you need candies to develop your Pokémon. In this practical tip we will tell you how to get candy.
How to get candy in Pokémon Go
In order to develop Pokémon further, it is important to collect Pokémon that belong to a species or family. This will give you sweets every time. We show you here which tips you should consider:
- Basically, you can get candy by catching and sending wild Pokémon. So it's important to catch as many Pokémon as possible. You will also receive sweets when Pokémon hatch from eggs. You can find out more in the next paragraph.
- You should collect candies that match a particular Pokémon. So you can collect the same Pokémon as well as related ones. For example, you need the same candy for Taubsi and Tauboga. With every catch you earn three candies.
- However, a certain number of candies is required for further development. In the example on the screenshot, 50 candies are required, but only 32 are available. You can get the missing 18 by catching Taubsi six times.
- You can find out where you can find which Pokémon in this article. If you stick to it, you increase the chance of finding matching Pokémon.
- You can use smoke to track down Pokémon. You will find all information about this in another article. Lock modules are also conceivable.
- If you send a Pokémon to the professor, you will also receive a candy for this. This is useful, for example, if you have a lot of the same Pokémon and only little space left. When you send it, you will receive a candy that matches the Pokémon - regardless of whether this has already been further developed or not.
- Tip: Simply make candy yourself - how it works
Hatching eggs: This is how many candies you get
You will also receive sweets when the eggs hatch. The number of candies depends on the egg. You can count on these sweets:
- 2 km eggs: Usually you get an average of 7 to 8 candies, but a maximum of 15.
- 5 km eggs: On average there are 15 to 16 candies, in the best case 21.
- 10 km eggs: On average, you get 23 to 24 candies for hatching, up to a maximum of 32.
"Pokémon Go" update: Received candies with Pokémon Buddy
With the new "Pokémon Go" update 0.37.0 for Android and 1.7.0 for iOS, you can now dust off sweets when you go for a walk with any Pokémon.
- Once you have the new update, you can choose a captured Pokémon as your buddy. Then you play side by side in "Pokémon Go".
- You will then receive candies for the respective Pokémon for a certain route. This way you can develop your pocket monsters even faster.
- Depending on the type and size of the Pokémon, you have to walk different lengths to get the candies. As a rule, you cover one, two or three kilometers to receive a candy.
- You can see how many kilometers you have already walked or how many more are missing from the buddy display.
Update: More sweets through new berry in "Pokémon Go"
Thanks to the second generation update in "Pokémon Go" there are now new berries. One of them, the Sanana berry, ensures that you get more candy. We show you how it works:
- With a little luck, you can collect the Sanana berry at the PokéStop and use it when trying to catch it.
- If you give the wild Pokémon the Sanana berry, you will receive twice as many candies if you catch it successfully.
- So if you catch a second generation Pokémon in "Pokémon Go" you will get 20 candies. If you use a Sanana berry for the catch, there are 40 of the coveted candies.
- Important: You can only use one berry before trying to catch it and you cannot combine it. So think carefully about when you use which berry and where the use of the Sanana berry is particularly suitable.
