Pokemon GO: Catch Ditto - Go There
The slimy Pokémon Ditto has been exciting with its versatility since the first generations. In this article, we clarify where you can catch Ditto in Pokémon GO.
Catch Ditto in Pokémon GO
Pokémon GO currently has all first and second generation Pokémon to catch - at least in theory. The legendary Pokémon Mew and Mewtu are already in the game, but they don't just appear on the map. The same applies to Zapdos, Lavados and Arktos.
- However, since the update (0.47.1 for Android and 1.17.0 for iOS) it has been clear how you can catch the Pokémon Ditto. However, this works differently than with all previous Pokémon.
- This is how you encounter Ditto in the form of any pocket monster. This is usually a simple Karpador, Taubsi, Rattfratz or Zubat. Alternatively, it can also be a hootoot, Yanma, Wiesor or webaract. Only after the fight is over will you see that a ditto is actually hiding behind the facade. If you haven't seen the Pokémon yet, you can speed up the encounter with a few tricks.
Catch Ditto - tips and tricks
- First, make sure you have enough Poké or Hyperballs with you. Then catch as many low-level Pokémon (Taubsi, Hornliu, Zubat, Hoothoot, Yanma, Wiesor and Co.) as possible. You can use smoke to make this happen as quickly as possible.
- Sooner or later you will encounter a ditto this way. Note, however, that there is basically no special trick to force Ditto to spawn. You should therefore be patient.
- If you have caught a ditto, purple smoke appears as if a Pokémon hatched from an egg and Ditto reveals its actual shape. The best: The actual WP value of Ditto is significantly higher than that of the fake Pokémon.
Alternative: Catch Ditto on raids
Since the Pokémon GO update in June, you can also catch rare Pokémon in raids. However, the selection of raid Pokémon is currently limited and Ditto is not one of the Pokémon appearing there. It is questionable whether this will change in the near future. However, you can check this yourself at any time:
- Tap the wild Pokémon icon at the bottom right and switch to the "Raid" tab.
- There you will see all active raids in your area, including the Pokémon that can be caught in them. If only one large egg appears here, wait until the time shown to reveal the Pokémon behind it.
- If you actually see a ditto in the preview, run to the appropriate arena within the time shown and start the fight. It's best to compete with several friends there, since the raid Pokemon are all very strong.
- If you defeat Ditto, you will receive several Poké Balls that you can catch as usual.
