Play Pokemon GO in landscape format - Here's how
By default, you can only play Pokémon GO in portrait mode. In landscape format, however, you can see much more of the map. In this article, we will tell you how to turn the game on your smartphone.
iPhone: Play Pokémon GO in landscape orientation
There is currently no official function with which you can switch from portrait to landscape mode. Also, Pokémon GO can no longer be used as in older versions due to a bug in landscape format. In the past, you could play in landscape mode in the following ways:
- To do this, start the app on your iPhone or iPad and tap on the Poké Ball below.
- At the top right, select the "Settings" option.
- Scroll down a bit and tap "Report top errors."
- If you confirm the message with "Yes", the Safari browser opens.
- You can close it immediately with the home button. If you then start Pokémon GO again via the app icon, the game is in landscape format.
- Note: Since the landscape mode is only a bug in the game, it cannot be ruled out that errors can occur when playing.
Android: Play Pokémon GO in landscape mode
- An official landscape version of Pokémon GO is also missing on Android. In addition, the error that allows you to switch to landscape format under iOS does not work here. There is currently no way to gamble in landscape mode.
- At the moment it is not clear whether Niantic will ever implement such a function in the game. Since the landscape mode in iOS is only a bug, official support is not to be expected at least in the foreseeable future.
