Many Pokémon fans wonder how you can catch the legendary pocket monsters - for example Mewtwo - in Pokémon Go. In this practical tip you get all information about the legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
How to catch legendary Pokémon:
Since summer 2017 you can catch legendary Pokémon in the popular game for Android and iOS from the manufacturer Niantic. If you want to get back into the game, we will bring you up to date:
- Legendary Pokémon are the strongest opponents in the game that can be fought and caught. Which of which can be caught when is sometimes limited in time and linked to an exclusive raid event for which you need an ex-raid invitation.
- Who gets the ex-raid invitation? You increase the chance of receiving an invitation by regularly participating in normal raids and leveling up your arena medal. This happens by fighting there regularly or defending the arena. The rank of each order can be seen in the menu under your avatar.
- You can recognize raids for legendary Pokemon by the fact that the egg is dark blue and there are five monster characters above it. The resulting Pokémon must first be defeated and then caught. The chance of catching is significantly less than that of normal Pokémon and is about 2-3 percent. To increase this chance up to 16 percent, the use of golden raspberries and excellent and curved trajectories of the Poké Ball is recommended.
- The legendary Pokémon can be used to attack other gyms or to participate in other raids. You can't use your legendary Pokémon to defend a gym.
Find legendary Pokémon - Here's how
There are different ways you can catch the particularly rare Pokémon and thus complete your Pokedex.
- Legendary raids: Legendary Pokémon hatch from dark blue raid eggs and can only be defeated in a team. So it is best to find at least four other players who want to participate in the raid. The Pokémon that hatch from these eggs change monthly and are always announced within the app.
- Raid Events: Some Pokémon that were previously available in legendary raids often return for events. These are limited in time and are usually only announced at short notice by the game developer Niantic. So far, these have mainly been weekends on which the legendary pocket monsters have returned.
- Fieldwork Breakthrough: Complete a quest daily for seven days and receive a random special Pokémon. These also change monthly. The special thing about this is that the pocket monster cannot escape and you have endless attempts to catch it. So that you do not run out of balls, it is still recommended to use a golden raspberry or the silver Sanana berry.
- Exchange: With the introduction of the exchange function, it has become much easier to complete the Pokedex. But be careful: The legendary Pokémon can only be exchanged once a day. Another practical tip will tell you how the exchange works and what you should consider.
Catch ex-raid Pokémon - Here's how:
Ex-raid Pokémon change at irregular intervals. From October 2017 to September 2018, Mewtwo was caught by the invitation, then Deoxys in its normal form until December 2018. Since then, the form of attack, defense and initiative of the Psycho-Pokémon have followed.
- In its normal form, Deoxys has 3160 maximum competition points. The attack form, however, has only 2580 WP. All forms of Psycho-Pokémon can be defeated by 4-5 people.
- Deoxys belongs to the type "Psycho" and is therefore susceptible to attacks of the types "Unlicht", "Geist" and "Käfer". Ideal opponents are therefore Despotar, Hundemon, Garados, Dragoran, Gengar, Nachtara or Lugia. If you've already caught a Deoxys, don't forget to put it back in!
- The catch rate for Deoxys is higher than that of the other legendary Pokemon and is 6 percent. When using golden raspberries and an excellent throw with a curved trajectory, the chance increases up to 33 percent.
