Pokemon Go: Pokemon nearby - the distance
In the game app "Pokémon Go" you can see which Pokémon are currently nearby. This indicates the distance and helps you to find the Pokémon better. We show you how the function works.
Pokémon spotted after the update - how far away?
In "Pokémon Go" you can see which Pokémon are nearby. After the update 1.19.1 (iOS) and 0.49.1 (Android) the new "near-feature" was extended to all players in the USA and to a large part of Europe (including Germany). How to determine Pokémon distance:
- Tap the small white box in the corner at the bottom right. Then under the heading "Nearby" you can see which Pokémon are close by.
- The Pokémon nearby are now displayed in front of the Pokéstop they are near.
- Now tap on a Pokémon you would like to catch and a detailed view of the Pokéstop will open.
- Now when you tap the three footprint icon, the Pokéstop will be highlighted on the map and you'll get a bird's-eye view to help you find it.
- Now go to the marked Pokéstop and search the area around it for the desired Pokémon to catch it.
Before the update: Nearby at "Pokémon Go"
Before the update was released, the Pokémon nearby were shown as "Spotted". An exact location was not possible. When Pokémon Go was released, there was another system initially. You could tell the distance of the Pokémon from the footsteps. Here you can find all information about this feature, which is now out of date:
- Three steps meant that the Pokémon was about 300 meters away from you. If you clicked on this, your character was looking for it. Rustling grass could show you the direction.
- Two footsteps stood for around 200 meters away. You could also see with a click where the Pokémon was located.
- A footstep indicated that the Pokémon was only 100 meters away from you. You could also have a look at where you had to search.
- If there was no more footsteps to be seen, it meant that the Pokémon was in close proximity. If you clicked on the Pokémon, it appeared a little later and could be caught immediately.
- In addition to tips and tricks for beginners and professionals, you will find a lot of information, such as how to make a better figure in the arena, how to improve the use of the app and also reduce the immense data consumption.
