If you want to further strengthen your team in Pokémon GO, you can teach your pocket monsters with TMs new attacks. In this practical tip, we reveal how you get the so-called "technical machines" and how you use them.
Get Pokémon GO: TMs
You get TMs in Pokémon GO as a reward for raid battles won. It depends on your trainer level which TM you receive. In total there are two different variations: the loading TM and the immediate TM. Only trainers with a level above 25 have the chance to get a loading TM after a fight. At a lower level you only get instant TMs.
- Charge TMs let you change your Pokémon’s special attacks. These are the attacks that must first be charged in combat and which you then carry out with a long tap on the display. Special attacks are significantly stronger than normal attacks.
- Instant TM, on the other hand, is used to teach your Pokémon new normal attacks. You start these attacks in combat with a simple tap.
Use TMs in Pokémon GO - you need to know that
Unlike in previous Pokémon versions, there is no TM for every single attack in Pokémon GO. Rather, you need a bit of luck when using TMs.
- If you have a TM, you can give the item to any of your Pokémon. However, since the attacks only bring something into combat, you should save the TMs for strong Pokémon with good values. The trainer rating tells you which of your pocket monsters is particularly strong.
- If you then use a TM, either the special attack or the normal attack will be forgotten. Which attack your Pokémon learns instead depends on chance.
- There are two main rules: First, your Pokémon cannot learn the same attack that you are trying to remove. A TM will therefore always bring about a change. On the other hand, attacks that were removed earlier cannot be learned again.
- Therefore use the TMs wisely. The new attack is not always stronger than the old one. In this case, you have to activate a TM again and hope that you will be more lucky this time.
- Also note that the TMs don't work on Pokémon that can only learn a possible attack. After all, there are no other attacks for the pocket monsters that could be learned by accident.
Conclusion: TMs are actually only worthwhile for very strong Pokémon where you want to improve the attacks. You can find out which of your Pokémon is the best for a fight with an IV calculator for Pokémon GO.
