Pokemon black and white: all the differences
The Pokémon editions black and white differ significantly in some points. We have summarized all the differences of the fifth generation for you.
The exclusive Pokémon of the editions black and white
As usual, there are some significant differences between the two main editions of the Pokémon Games in the successor generation to Diamond and Perl. The versions differ in the following points:
- The first difference can be seen on the packaging of the video games. Zekrom is the legendary Pokémon of the White Edition, for the Black Edition it is Reshiram.
- Other legendary Pokémon also differ: in the black edition you only come into contact with Boreos, while you can only catch Voltolos in the white edition.
- Other exclusive Black Edition Pokémon are Hornliu, Kokuna, Bibor, Kramurx, Kramshef, Hunduster, Hundemon, Knilz, Kapilz, Plusle, Volbeat, Waumboll, Elfun, Mollimorba, Hypnomorba, Morbitesse, Skallyk and Grypheldis.
- In the white edition, however, Raupy, Safcon, Smettbo, Paras, Parasek, Traunfugil, Traunmagil, Fiffyen, Magnayen, Minun, Illumise, Lilminip, Dressella, Monozyto, Mitodos, Zytomega, Geronimatz and Washakwil are exclusive.
- Another difference: In the Black Edition, a Wollboll can be exchanged for Lilminip in the Eternal Forest, since this can only be caught in the White Edition. In the White Edition it is exactly the opposite: Here you get Waumboll by exchanging with a Lilminip.
- If you swap a Picochila for perch villain on Route 16, you get the blue-line form in the White Edition and the red-line version in the Black Edition.
- You can catch the blue perch in the White Edition while surfing and fishing, in the Black Edition you only get the red form of the Pokémon. With the strudel, the black perch is found in the black edition and the red one in the white edition.
Differences in cities
- For the first time there is another difference in this Pokémon generation: edition-specific locations. There is the Black City in the Black Edition and the White Forest in the White Edition.
- These two places differ not only in terms of graphics, but also in their function.
- Various Pokémon can be caught in the White Forest, for example Taubsi, Gehweiher, Waumpel, Nebulak, Hoppspross, Togepi, Elekid, Lotzurzel and Bummelz, Magby, Magnetilo, Felino or Trasla. This is not possible in the black edition.
- The Black City, on the other hand, offers the opportunity to buy various items and to fight.
- But Twindrake City also differs in the two versions: Lysander is the arena leader in the black edition, Lilia in the white.
