Pokemon Sun / Moon: How QR codes and island scans work
Scanning QR codes is a new feature in Pokémon Sun and Moon. We'll show you why the new feature is absolutely awesome and how you can use it.
Use QR codes and island scanners
- You can scan Pokémon QR codes using the QR code scanner in the Pokemon Sun and Moon menu. These will then be added to the Pokédex as "seen".
- You receive a scan usage every two hours and can save up to ten usage.
- If you scan, you get ten points. As soon as you have collected 100 points, you can activate the island scanner.
Pokemon Sun & Moon: Island Scanner
With the island scanner you can search the island you are on for wild Pokémon. What is special is that Pokémon can also appear that are not listed in the normal Alola Pokédex.
- These include starter Pokémon from the Jotho region and developments of starters from Einall.
- If you have activated the island scanner, you have exactly one hour to find the wild Pokémon. By the way, each of these Pokémon has a special location.
- If you have spotted the Pokémon in tall grass, it will not bring other Pokémon into battle by calling for help. It also masters a special attack.
