Configure popup blocker in Firefox
Many browsers have a pop-up blocker, including Firefox. You can choose to allow pop-ups completely, block them or only allow them on the pages you have selected.
Find and configure popup blockers in Firefox
Note: No system is perfect. In practice, unfortunately, not all popups can be blocked. With Firefox's built-in pop-up blocker, you can disable most pop-ups:
- Click on the menu button in Firefox at the top right and select the "Settings".
- Go to the "Privacy & Security" category on the left and search for "Permissions".
- Activate the "Block pop-up window" option and click the "Exceptions" button next to it.
- Here you can generally allow desired website pop-ups or withdraw a given permission.
- Tip: If Firefox blocks a pop-up on a website, this is indicated by a small icon in the top right. To allow the popup if necessary, simply click on the icon.
In the next practical tip we will show further secret functions of Firefox that you are guaranteed not to have known.
